Legalities All states with the exception of New York and California statutes define gambling as having 3 distinct characteristics: Prize, Chance, Consideration. If any of these 3 characteristics are missing, the game is within the law. Poker, by law, is considered to be a game of “chance.” “Prize”—we have lots of them! According to State Law, ‘"Consideration" means anything which is a commercial or financial advantage to the promoter or a disadvantage to any participant. ‘ This means we cannot charge a fee for players to play National Saloon Poker. We cannot require players to make a purchase from the host location. Chips used in our tournament have no financial value. Our National Saloon Poker regulations are listed below. Each player must sign a sheet stating they understand these regulations. Our regulations are also posted at each event. |

National Saloon Poker Regulations 1. Players must register before each round. Photo ID required from all players. 2. Player will be assigned a registration number. 3. Players must be 18 or 21 years of age, depending on state and times played. 4. NO purchase is required for play. 5. NO cover charge may be applied to patrons. 6. NO form of currency is allowed on the table, NO Side Betting as prohibited by state law. 7. Players shall rotate dealership duties. 8. All cards and chips must remain on or above the table at all times. 9. Inappropriate behavior will be subject to penalty or elimination. 10. No discussion of any other poker events happening outside of National Saloon Poker tournaments. 11. Players caught cheating will be disqualified from play, and from future National Saloon Poker events. 11. Any disputes will be settled by tournament hosts and are final. 12. Rules are subject to change. |
